On the old Internet (Web 1.0) communication was in one direction only i.e. from author to reader. On the new Internet (Web 2.0) communication is not only two way but is a community affair with everybody involved with comments on comments and entire conversations.

WordPress blogs allows reader comments and discussion but there are a number of settings that you can implement to control how comments work. Log into your dashboard and check out ‘Settings, Discussion’. Here you will find many different settings that can make comments work for you.

You don’t have to be concerned when people comment on a post you have made. You have total control of your blog settings – and there are many of them. One of them allows you as the administrator to moderate/approve comments before they become public.

On the menu sidebar, at the bottom is the ‘Settings’ option. Under Settings in the ‘Discussion’ option. Here you can ensure that discussion on your blog is constructive and useful. You can even blacklist certain people should they become a pest (this does not happen often).

You receive an email asking you to moderate a comment which you do by hitting the ‘Approve’ option.
